Stop wasting your time
First newsletter with probably the most important lesson!
Greetings,
I would like to begin by introducing myself and this newsletter. Firstly, there will be numerous stories included. Probably one of my greatest skills is in storytelling and I frequently use stories to convey my perspective or describe something. Storytelling is an incredibly influential tool in all aspects of life, and I can provide guidance on how you can use it too.
Before the story begins, I want you to say,
I am going to stop letting people waste my time!
⌛ This is important because it's crucial to understand the story and how it affects you as an individual. People can have an impact on you, but this is about your journey, not theirs. You need to improve your ability to recognize when people are wasting your time. Over and over again, I observe scammers captivating audiences on Twitter, and they remind me of scammers I used to encounter frequently at car boot sales. So, this is the story.
I used to witness this occurrence frequently at boot sales (known as yard sales or rummage sales in the US, but on a much larger scale). Occasionally, at these boot sales, there would be a standout booth. It would be elevated, with one person manning it and another imposing figure present, serving either as security or for intimidation purposes. I was never certain. On this booth, an array of luxury goods would be displayed. However, they were not available for purchase; their purpose was solely to capture attention. Allow me to elaborate...

There was a man with a microphone headset stood high on an elevated stand, and he would begin telling the audience about how you could get the best deal ever if you were to stick around. As a result, people would gather around, gazing at the luxurious items, which included well-known brand fragrances and high-end handbags.
So this person would incessantly talk about the items and emphasise that it was a golden opportunity to purchase something at a lower price than in a store. However, the moment individuals seemingly lost interest, the man with the mic would excitedly say,
“Give me £20 for an absolute bargain, I am feeling generous!”
Without hesitation, people would frantically search their pockets to eagerly hand over two ten-pound notes, hoping for a good deal. Even those who were initially skeptical would witness others readily parting with their money, as if they had it prepared in advance, and consequently, they would do the same.
This talking and giving of money for this impending bargain went on sometimes for 30 minutes to an hour, and sometimes even longer, but it was all part of the scam. At some points during this, perfumes would be handed over to individuals in the audience, and they would quickly disappear with their bargains. As time went on, people would get restless, and so the man with the microphone would say, "If you want to leave, just give me £70, but you will miss out." Some would give £70, while others tried to ask for their money back, and the relatively large guy would handle the customer service. I would hear him say to them,
"It's not refundable, but I can give it to you for £60 more."
So people would end up spending £50-£100 for a perfume they could have probably bought for the same amount in the shops, without wasting an hours of their life. But it gets worse; it turns out the seller liked to take advantage of buyers with knockoff perfumes. So those bargains ended up being watered down, and the scent only lasted long enough to deceive you. The people keen to jump right in were marks (fake buyers), and they were also the ones handed the perfumes at the start.
“Thanks Chewie, great story but why are you wasting my time?,” you say.
Did I? What did you get from that? A lesson.
What you learnt:
Be cautious of individuals who attempt to persuade you to purchase items.
If you are sending money for something know what you are getting
It’s not just your $30-$150 you are supporting scammers.
FOMO was created by scammers to get people like you.
Fake buyers operate everywhere there are stuff to sell.
Most importantly stop wasting time.
There are many people wasting your time. STOP listening, STOP falling for it. You time is precious.
So, I am Chewie. I studied architecture and UI/UX design. I was a semi-pro gamer and also worked as a game auditor/tester. I have experience in Digital & web3 Marketing, web3 community building, and Content Creation. Additionally, I have been providing AI Consultation for a year now. I host and co-host Twitter spaces and have conducted Discord stage lessons on various topics, from self-help to web3 general information. In my free time, I focus on learning, thinking, and evaluating.

Did you see my introduction animation with my Azuki Beanz? I taught myself how to create that. I completed it in 30 minutes because that was the time I set for myself. I could have added more frames or made the animation smoother, but we can discuss that in another newsletter. However, it wasn't a waste of time because that animation is intended for a job I am aiming for and also serves as an announcement for my newsletter, so I'm hitting two birds with one stone.

My main goal is to leverage the things I create and build into opportunities. In this newsletter, I will discuss not only what I have learned in web3 but also life lessons, hence my opening story. I teach by sharing stories about my own experiences or those of others from which I have learned something. I have been part of several teams in Web3, and I am known as the "man of all trades" because I learn from other industries and can easily apply that knowledge into what I do. So, if you enjoyed this first step with me, you will love what's coming next. I will talk extensively about using AI tools to simplify your life, explore the infinite possibilities of content creation and marketing, and provide helpful tips such as utilizing AI for assistance. There will be something for everyone, I am sure all the while you get to hear some great stories.
If you got this far thanks for reading this you absolute legend! Hope to see you in the next newsletter with a couple of surprises.
Keep exploring and learning,
